In our scriptures, we see miracles but we also pause to give thanks for them. We are impacted by God's work by his healing and by witnessing his healing. Let's come to worship with excitement and anticipation to see what he does next!
In Habakkuk, we join the writer in asking, "How long?" We recognize the world does not existing as God intended. We wait on his help to fix injustice and save us from violence. Come to worship to praise God who promises his intervention as we look for him to come back soon.
In our gospel lesson we are challenged with the contrasting lives of an unnamed rich man and a poor man named Lazarus. The parable Jesus tells is a foreshadowing. Jesus predicts that even someone rising from the dead wouldn't convince some people to change their ways. We come to worship reminded of Jesus' compassion to go ahead and raise a real man named Lazarus from the dead just like in his parable, even knowing that it wouldn't change hearts and minds. We thank Jesus for his willingness to still try to reach out to those rich in this life but missing true riches for the next.
