Sunday Worship - October 24th

December 26, 2022

Faith Worship - 24 October 2021 at 10 am

Pastor Micah offers an online service, combining preaching from his home and seamless musical offerings from the Faith-Salem Virtual Choir. In this week's gospel, we learn about Bartimaeus, the blind man who, after being healed by Jesus and receiving his sight, immediately decided to become a disciple and follow Jesus. Bartimaeus shows us what it means to be a disciple. And although it is far from easy, there is a joy to be found in discipleship. There is a joy that comes in the presence of Jesus. There is a love that can be found in Christian community. And there is grace, mercy and healing to be found in the community of God. We are free to choose (or not choose) discipleship. May we choose to be servant leaders and disciples of Christ, proclaiming the love of God and the grace and mercy of Christ to all people.

In our scriptures, we see miracles but we also pause to give thanks for them. We are impacted by God's work by his healing and by witnessing his healing. Let's come to worship with excitement and anticipation to see what he does next!

Congregational Meeting on October 19th for a Vote on the Call of a New Pastor

In Habakkuk, we join the writer in asking, "How long?" We recognize the world does not existing as God intended. We wait on his help to fix injustice and save us from violence. Come to worship to praise God who promises his intervention as we look for him to come back soon.

Call Committee Update and a Blessing of the Animals Service Next Week

In our gospel lesson we are challenged with the contrasting lives of an unnamed rich man and a poor man named Lazarus. The parable Jesus tells is a foreshadowing. Jesus predicts that even someone rising from the dead wouldn't convince some people to change their ways. We come to worship reminded of Jesus' compassion to go ahead and raise a real man named Lazarus from the dead just like in his parable, even knowing that it wouldn't change hearts and minds. We thank Jesus for his willingness to still try to reach out to those rich in this life but missing true riches for the next.
